Project Highlights:

• Strict Best Buy MEP Standards were utilized to design this 45,000 sq ft Retail store and enforced throughout construction.

• Electrical design included compliance with the International Energy Conservation Code and the incorporation of an energy management system.

• Design of the new electrical service required close coordination with BG&E.

• Best Buy’s heavy electronics loads required intense electrical design and implementation of modular power distribution.

Project Highlights:

• Scope included design of 2 new base building retail shell buildings with provisions for 18 separately metered tenants.

• Close coordination with BG&E was required for the new site utilities.

• Site lighting design for entire building exterior and parking lot included pole placement, lighting calculation and controls.

Scope: 2,000 sq ft Branch Fit-out

Project Highlights:

• Signature branch for new local bank.

• Scope included reception area, teller line, consultation offices, pantry, conference room, and ATM room with 24/7 glycol cooled A/C system.

• Effective project management was required to coordinate with multitude of design consultants, including, security, A/V, Information/Technology and ATM vendor.

• DDG provided lighting design and value engineering support.

Project: Kenseal Construction Products Corporation
Location: Chantilly, Virginia (Fairfax County)
Scope: 18,300 sq ft Warehouse, Office, and Retail Fitout

Project Highlights:

• Project encompassed multiple use groups within a single warehouse condominium. Use groups included a high-end retail sales area, corporate office space, and back of house warehouse bay. A portion of the warehouse condo was sectioned for sublease.

• Scope included warehouse bay with a paint tinting room, which required dedicated cooling and exhaust systems; sublease warehouse with metered electrical sub panel; multi-use office space with pantry, large conference room, large accessory storage, ADA compliant restrooms, and retail sales area.

• Challenges included space conditioning of the paint tinting room, which is open to an unconditioned warehouse area allowing lift machinery to enter and exit space on a continuous basis; and strict code requirements for fire suppression system serving paint tinting room.

• Press Release: Kenseal Construction Products Corp. recently contracted DDG Virginia to provide the MEP design for their new warehouse space located in Beltsville, Maryland. The space consists of 46,625 sq ft. of warehouse, office and retail. The project is currently in the construction phase.

Project Highlights:

• Design and construction administration for high-end restaurant located on the ground floor of a two-story retail/office building.

• Scope included a sports bar, elegant open seating areas, a private party area with open ceiling and exposed ductwork, ADA compliant restrooms, and a full-service kitchen.

• The kitchen included multiple grease hoods, dishwasher exhaust hood, direct gas-fired make-up air unit, in ground 1,500 gallon grease interceptor system, walk-in refrigerator/freezer combo, gas appliances, and central water filtration system.

• An electrical service upgrade was required to accommodate the high electrical demands of the restaurant.
